this what i really meant to say earlier. i first met Rod about 20 years ago when our PC crashed. he fixed it, and he then looked after all my family’s PCs and we are still using most of them, including the main one which he built from scratch. he never ever failed to fix the problem , and that’s what i wanted to say, not that he was good with PCs, but that he was prepared to go the extra mile to fix your problem, and always with that gruff cheerfulness, or do i mean cheerful gruffness , that characterised him.!and he applied this committment to other things in his life including the Pavilion committee/board . my son Jack tells me that his Open Mic probably wouldn’t have happened without Rod’s support. he looked forward every year to his australian trip and was really looking forward to moving there with Maggie this year. we will all miss him
